TESTING PUPILS FOR DRUGS DOES NOT REDUCE DRUG USE

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SERVICES ARE JUDGED BY WHAT MATTERS TO THE PATIENT?
The few studies which have measured quality of life outcomes after addiction treatment reveal that
how a patient assesses their own well-being can be poorly related to conventional outcomes such as
substance use. Measuring success in terms of what matters to the patient would often give a
different impression of whether one treatment or service is better than another.
