The "stale nfs file handle" message indicates that you are reading/writing
data (or matlab files) over the network - and that this data was moved or
deleted part way through the analysis - or the filesystem became unmounted
(or disappeared for some reason). I would suggest contacting whoever
administers your computers for a bit more site-specific advice.
