Actually, I have to sort of eat humble pie, I've just realised that
what Patrick and others are referring to are the coursing bricks that
alternate with the masonry, they are certainly there, the bricks I've
been thinking about are fascia-work, those that survive I consider
semi-slabic, as it were..
