Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Alcoholics in the workplace
Hi List!
This is a topic that I am not overly confident in and I would very much
like
some guidance.
I have been seeing an alcoholic in the workplace since May. His
employer
and I have implemented a rehab agreement i.e attend work on time not
smeling of alcohol and seek help etc etc. The employee in question
declined
his last appt with me (not sure of reason why yet), but fell off the
wagon 3
weeks ago and attended work under the influence of alcohol. He has
since
been suspended AGAIN, and is due to come and see me today.
His employer is concerned as they obviously do not want to end up in a
tribunal, but I was just wondering what anyone else does under thesee
circumstances and what they advise the employer.
Also, his employer said to me today that this applies under the DDA....
maybe
naively on my part but I didnt think so but can anyone clarify this for
me
please???
Any help would be very greatfully appreciated as always.
Rachael
