Right,
Here are Alexander's 20 questions, laboriously translated back into English
from the Italian I use them in ( if you use them, pliz check for
errors--hope the wording isn't strange after the translation). They can of
course be changed around and added to or subtracted from or modified in any
way that might convert them from useless to useful.
In case it provides some inspiration, I include my natural disasters exam
questions, as accumulated over 22 years of teaching the subject in a large
American multiversity. Without multiple choice would George W. Bush ever
have got through Yale? There is also a file with a few model answers to
questions that need a written response.
In the emergency management field I think the average multiple choice
question has four answers: three are 'maybe' and one is 'perhaps'. Hence I
did not go for more complex questions but I did try to avoid the Mastermind
guessing-game type of question of the "what is the height of Mount Everest?"
type.
Hope it helps. Any guidance you can offer, or more usefully, raw material,
for the construction of a specifically Italian version of the CEM would be
much appreciated as we are about to get cracking on that.
All the best,
David

Subject: Help needed in building exam question bank
Ladies and Gentlemen,
IAEM Europa is in the process of building a Question Bank to support local
application of the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM(R)) Program. A
component of the program is a 100 question multiple choice exam that is made
up of 60-80% general Emergency Management questions and 40-20% country
specific questions.
It would be of great assistance if you could provide me with a number of
questions that you think would be a fair assessment of an Emergency
Managers professionals knowledge. Country specific questions are sort for
IAEM Europa countries, but I will also collate questions for other
counteries
and generl EM questions you may wish to contribute.
Please format your submissions as follows:
Country Specific (Name of Country) / GENERAL
