News from the National Library of Scotland, 7 August 2008:
---------------------------------------
Several hundred highly detailed Ordnance Survey maps are now part of our online maps
collection. The OS Six-inch series covers the period 1843-1882. At that time it was the
most detailed mapping of the whole of Scotland that had ever been produced. Using an
interactive image map, or by browsing the county lists, you can see natural and man-made
features that appeared on maps for the first time. This is a significant addition to our
online OS series.
