Here are some more key developments that you may find of interest:

• BMJ now publishes all its articles online as soon as they are ready to

research remains free for authors and readers alike.
• BMJ has again increased its journal Impact Factor, it now stands at

older than three years will be free.
• Additional pagination – Heart will double its frequency from 12 issues
per year (144 pages) to 24 issues (96 pages). The British Journal of Sports
Medicine will increase to an additional 4 issues per year. Four times a
year Archives of Disease in Childhood will carry a distinct Paediatric and
Perinatal Drug Therapy (PPDT) section publishing original research,
reviews, comment and analysis in all areas of paediatric drug therapy.

increase this year and retain their place as leading journals in their
fields. In particular, Gut has increased its impact factor to 10.015 (from

Diseases has an increased impact factor of 6.411 (from 5.767).
• New launch: BMJ Case Reports, launched in June 2008, publishes a high
volume of cases in all disciplines so that healthcare professionals,
researchers and others can easily find clinically important information on
common and rare conditions. An updated website will be launched in late
2008 and will allow users to find cases based on speciality and patient
demographics. Users will also be able to respond to published cases, sign
up for content alerts and RSS feeds, download images to power point and
much more.

will enable users to search and download relevant videos for their practice
and training.

programmes for doctors, with a primary focus on enhancing the most popular
series for GPs: the two day general update.
• After the successful introduction of a Knowledge Based Assessment (KBA)
revision resource for Gastroenterology, OnExamination will continue to meet
the changing needs of medical exams by
providing further KBA revision resources for such areas as; geriatrics,
neurology, respiratory and nephrology.
BMJ Knowledge
• BMJ Clinical Evidence has had a series of continuous enhancements
throughout the year. These include the introduction of foreign language
navigation, patient information leaflets which summarise important
condition information in a language that patients understand, improved
search and browse functions, new PubMed abstracts for each systematic
review giving users a clear summary at a glance and new GRADE scores which
provide improved key messages for each intervention, structured around the
most clinically important outcomes.
• BMJ Updates have extended the BMJ Clinical Evidence search facility so
that users can now access the BMJ Updates database. This means that where
a user searches for a topic or condition not covered within BMJ Clinical
Evidence, they are now likely to get a result from BMJ Updates database.
