Dear Andy Pagram et al...
I just to correct a misquote from Andy Pagram within his emailed notes, that I am not an Executive Officer of Hull and East Riding Mental Health Action Goup (MHAG), that on this matter I am expressing concerns and support as the CEO of Hull and East Riding NeuroDiversity and Autism Action Group (NAAG) who work very closely 'in-partnership' with MHAG and other Disabled Peoples' Organisations (DPO's) and allies locally, nationally and internationally who all share the same concerns within this John Bernard Martindale case.
Yours,
Colin Revell

As requested, copy of report entry regarding Mr Martindale.
It has been noted that there is a wording error on the ASBO in respect of the carrying of audio equipment. Humberside Police ASB Officer is making a Court Appeal to have the wording corrected.
A representation has also been made to the Hull Daily Mail by Humberside Police Media Office in respect of the 'one-sided aspect' of the report. If you wish to take the matter of the newspaper article any further, you will need to address the newspaper directly, as Humberside Police have no control over what is printed.
Regards
Andy

Received a telephone call from Mr David Glennister of Hull & East Riding Mental Health Action Group in respect of the newspaper report in Hull Daily Mail 16/8/08 concerning a local 'celebrity' in Beverley named John Bernard Martindale.
Mr Glennister is of the opinion that Mr Martindale is a 'vulnerable adult' who has not only been treated unfairly by the local authorities who sought to issue the ASBO, but has also received 'unfair representation in the media' in respect of certain comments printed in the article.
Mr Glennister feels that Mr Martindale does have certain 'mental health issues' not only surrounding possible alcohol abuse, but possibly attributed to the fact that he is a Falkland War Veteran and has also suffered great personal tragedy with the loss of his wife and child in a car accident. (This information submitted by Mr Colin Revell - see below).
Mr Glennister feels that the use of an ASBO in this case falls far short of the purposeful use of ASBO's.
With regard to the unfair representation in the newspaper article, the paper states that Mr Martindale is often 'taunted by local youths' - which provokes him and antagonises him, causing him to behave in a manner likely to cause a breach of his ASBO, but where as the newspaper encourages people to report Mr Martindale to the police for any breach of ASBO, it makes no mention of reporting local youths who are seen 'taunting and provoking a 'vulnerable adult'.
All of the above complaint has this morning been re--emphasised to me in a telephone call received from Mr Colin Revell in his capacity as Executive Officer of Hull & East Riding Mental Health Action Group. Mr Revell has stated that 'this is another example of the disablist attitude of the police and East Riding of Yorkshire Council' and he wants the complaint progressed.
