Note that this is what we are attempting with the DC/RDA project [1] --
we are creating registry entries [2] [3] for the RDA elements and
vocabularies so they can be used unambiguously anywhere they are needed,
not just in library data. That said, what we have accomplished so far is
just a first pass because the library data hasn't been designed for this
use of identifiers. The next step will be to create a version of the
library data elements that are more amenable to use in a semantic web
context.
