Eighteenth-Century Fiction

Eighteenth-Century Fiction (ECF), the leading international
publication of scholarship on the early novel and the only quarterly
devoted to eighteenth-century fiction, is now available online.

In its 20th year of publication, the journal exercises a rigorous
peer-review of submissions and solicits reviews of relevant books. The
journal was founded to act as a primary research tool for fostering
intellectual debate and inquiry in this area of research and to serve
as a centre for scholarly exchange for the study of eighteenth-century
fiction. Since the journal's inception, ECF editors have focused on
publishing the best scholarship on the early novel, concentrating on
the period 1700-1800. The editorial vision of ECF has been expanded to
reflect changes in the discipline, and as a result, a variety of
approaches on a wide range of relevant cultural materials are
solicited and published. In recognition of the growing body of
interdisciplinary work by scholars in the field, ECF prints essays
that conceive of fiction more broadly and expand the frameworks of
critical, historical, and theoretical discussion.

Well-established and prominent in its field, ECF was recently
recognized with the runner-up prize in the best special issue category
for the "War/La Guerre" issue (Fall-Winter 2006-7, vol. 19, no.1-2),
in the 2007 competition of the Council of Editors of Learned Journals
(CELJ).

Articles are published in both English and French in order to provide
a venue for important new scholarship in this field that is regularly
produced in both languages. ECF's editorial board reflects an
international commitment, and publishes scholarly articles and book
reviews from Canada and around the world, including contributors from
Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK, France, Spain, and Japan,
among others.
