In trying to create some space in my office I’ve decided to part company with
a collection of weekly British TV magazines I purchased when researching and
writing my book Radio Times Guide To TV Comedy.
What's On TV (London area)
from the first issue (March 1991) to the end of 2004.
The collection is probably 100% complete but I wouldn't swear to it. I don't
recall missing any, though.
TV & Satellite Week (London area)
the run appears to extend from April 1993 to December 2004.
Again, either 100% complete or very close to it.
Selling them on eBay will be too much bother, and besides I'd prefer to think
everything is kept together, for study.
It's about 1400 magazines and I bought every one at the cover price. I'm
therefore reluctant to give them away for free. I know academic institutions
are not exactly awash with money ... so I will listen to offers.
I also have probably a couple of hundred TV Times (London area) from 1955
sporadically through the 1960s as *complete photocopies*. I needed these
when writing my Comedy Guide and the cost of having them done was simply
enormous. I realise photocopies in themselves are fairly worthless but these
are complete copies – editorial, adverts, listings pages – of magazines over or
approaching 50 years old, and what they contain is manna for British TV
historians.
Again, I will listen to offers.
This is a lot of paper. Whoever takes them off my hands will have to collect. I
live in Hertfordshire, about 25 miles north-west of London.
