Statistical Programmer Position
Grade 6: Salary £24,403 - £29,138 with a discretionary range to £31,840 p.a.
The Diabetes Trials Unit (DTU), University of Oxford wishes to appoint a
statistical programmer to work on its expanding portfolio of clinical
trials. The DTU is the largest Academic Research Organisation (ARO)
worldwide that specialises in performing diabetes-related mega-trials and
forms an integral part of the 5* rated University of Oxford Nuffield
Department of Medicine. The Unit, together with its internationally
recognised Statistics and Modelling Group (SMG) headed by Dr Sanjoy Paul,
designs, runs and analyses large-scale national and multinational
interventional outcome trials, performs disease specific genetic and
biomarker studies and undertakes challenging statistical methodological
research.
The successful candidate will join an innovative and award winning research
team specialising in the field of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
The Programmer will be involved in many projects and have a major supporting
role for the Unit’s larger-scale statistical programmes. The post holder
will learn about all aspects of trial design as well as advanced
biostatistical applications to conduct novel analyses. The DTU provides a

Applicants for this position should have a minimum of a BSc in a
mathematical science with extensive experience in SAS programming. The post
is funded for two years in the first instance with a high probability that
it will be extended, contingent upon continued research funding. Salary is
dependent on previous experience and benefits include 38 days holiday
(including public holidays) and a contributory pension scheme.
