I think the rule I use in Groupwise (see attachment) works as the reply is only generated when emails are specifically addressed to me and where total recipients are <50. I think postings to the mailbase are addressed to [log in to unmask] with BC to the individual.

I'm delighted that so many of you are taking holidays or spending
time out of the office. But I really don't need to know this when I
send an email to the group.
This is a well-known problem, eg:
http://www.businessemailetiquette.com/?p=280
A few suggestions:
1 Use an email client that enables you to select the addresses to
which you send "Out of Office" replies, and those to which you don't.
2 Use different email accounts for different purposes. (I think this
might be the best solution for many of you, after some previous
correspondence on the subject.)
3 Unsubscribe from groups when you go away.
Does anyone else have any useful hints?
Jonathan
