I have three nominations to make for membership of AACORN - but I'll do them
one by one.
The first is Garance Marechal, who is currently a Lecturer in Strategy at
the University of Liverpool. Garance has experience in both consulting and
the fashion industry being trained as a catwalk model, and specialises in
knowledge work and reflexivity, having gained her PhD in constructivist
psychology with distinction from Paris-Dauphine in 2006 where she founded
two student art and design associations (Com'mix and the Bureaux des Arts).
She has the AACORN style of intellectual breadth as she is now completing an
MA in Sociological Research at Lancaster University, where she is developing
a visual and historical study of the Paris Metro, using photographic
analysis, and exploring the critical applications of visual and artistic
techniques in management and organizational research, including Nan Goldin's
autoethnographic photography and the disciplined "metropoetry" of Jacques
Jouet. Several items of her own photography have been included in the
forthcoming edition of Management and Organization: A Critical Text (myself,
Liz Fulop and Simon Lilley - Palgrave 2009) - most of the other photographs
are by AACORN's Chris Poulson so the standard was high! She organised the
"Dark Side of Organization" conference in Sheffield in June 2008 with a
strong visual (even surrealist)theme; will co-convene a stream with myself
and Pierre Guillet de Monthoux on The Art of Practice at EGOS in 2009; and a
stream on the art and practice of Renaissance Politics in Regenerating
Economies at EURAM in Liverpool in 2009. I hope you'll agree that she will
make a fine and active member of our community.
