Hi Kent;
I cannot be there in person but will be there in Spirit.
Make sure you have good food.
After all as Lenin said "Any cook should be able to run the country.”
But he also said “Every cook has to learn how to govern the state.”
I have taught class in Ulyanovsk. The food was terrible.
Best regards
David

Subject: Reading Lenin with Corporations - cultural and industrial producers teaches imperialism
>
> Hi all,
Hope some of you can help by pointing to possible interested parties
living or working nearby New York, NY and/or Copenhagen, DK - beneficial
for the project as described below. Or maybe you are interested in the
project yourself?
Short description of project
'Reading Lenin with Corporations- cultural and
industrial producers teaches imperialism'
The 'Cultural Economy' can be seen as the latest development of an
'advanced capitalism'. Artists and cultural producers - especially
those who are working with corporate enterprise in-where contexts and
discourse are "half the work" - need to acquire knowledge about the
overall discourse of the current stage of 'capitalism' if
to perform to their abilities. As do those corporate
representatives of organisations that include 'Corporate Social
Responsibility', organisational policies on 'Cultural Diversity', and
'Outsourcing' to third world countries as part of their
corporate strategy.
Lenin is addressing 'advanced capitalism' in his text 'Imperialism -
the Highest Stage of Capitalism' (1917). The project 'Reading Lenin
with Corporations' sets out to facilitate a debate about the current
high stage of capitalism & culture with cultural and
industrial producers by readings of Lenin's text - and
to mediate this debate. A 'cultural economy' could as well imply a
'cultural imperialism'. This as well relates to the notions of
'social techniques' and 'bio-politics'.
The events in 'Reading Lenin with Corporations' will take place in 122
Gallery, New York, NY, 2008 and as a Tv series at the artist run Tv
station tv-tv, Copenhagen, 2009. Cultural and industrial producers
function as moderators for the debates.
