Hello from New Zealand
I am recently enrolled for PhD in the Department of Public Health at the University of Otago, Wellington, with the topic:
'How do passengers use and value their public transport travel time, and what is its value for health?'
My thinking at present is about the links between social contacts/ sociability and the importance of these for health; specifically people's contacts while travelling (on the way to, at the stop/ station, and in vehicle). I propose to use mixed methods - observations, interviews and surveys - in Wellington (our capital city) and Auckland (our biggest city).
I'm wondering if there are others with similar research interests who might like to correspond? In particular I'm interested in how people have done observations on buses and trains. Any advice, tips about pitfalls etc. most welcome.
Thanks
Marie Russell
