The Museum is pleased to say that the refurbishment of Britain's Oldest
Operating Theatre is just about complete.
Finally, the support work put in place for the Jubilee Line building
work have been dismantled and the Theatre refurbished. The Theatre is
now being tidied up and will be in the best condition for many years.
The building work has been organised by our landlords - the Cathedral
Group.
A good way to see the refurbished theatre is to come along to one of our
Victorian Surgery Demonstrations which are listed below.
*Victorian Surgery*
2pm Sunday 3rd, 10th and 17th August 2008
"A patient preparing for an operation was like a condemned criminal
preparing for execution."
A demonstration of an operation without anaesthetics or antiseptics, in
the Britain's recently refurbished only remaining wooden 19th century
Operating Theatre.
How will you survive...?
