This doesn't seem to be common knowledge. I recall many times telling
JAC astronomers that they can save typing by merely using the keyword.

PAR for truth what I always use, even in scripts; NOPAR for false I use
from the command line and some scripts, but at most PAR=F. I guess it
comes from the days when you could exhaust the command-line buffer.
I do make an execption _LOGICAL parameters that begin with "NO" like
NORMAL in COMPADD, NORM in PSF, NOISE in ZAPLIN, and will put NOISE=T.
