The latest attempt to define a 'socially agreed' minimum income
standard/poverty line for Britain has been published by the Joseph
Rowntree Foundation.
Many of the authors of the report, 'A minimum income standard for Britain:
What people think', and its advisory group are familar
names to most here.

Oldfield, Noel Smith, Linda Cusworth and Julie Williams
Advisory group included:

• Aidan Grisewood, Scottish Government;
• Michael Harmer, Welsh Assembly Government;
• Deborah Littman, UNISON;
• Sonia Sodha, Institute for Public Policy Research;
• Professor John Veit-Wilson, Newcastle University; and
• Professor Robert Walker, University of Oxford.
"Ordinary people", through group discussion and with the assistance of
moderators, facilitators, the research team, and various experts
defined the minimum income standard.
