Paula
I have been involved with the development of a couple of (basically)
functional classification schemes and would be happy to discuss any
matters to do with this. I will contact you off-line.
I wrote a dissertation a few years ago on the issues and challenges of
functional classification schemes. It included the views of a variety of
international theorists and practitioners on functional classification. It
is available on the Dutch Archief School website
http://public.archiefschool.net/C8/Publicaties%20door%20derden/Document%20Library/Orr_Functional%20Classification.pdf.
I also wrote a paper based closely on this which appeared in Archives &
Manuscripts Vol. 34 No. 1 by which time my conclusions had altered a bit.
They have subsequently altered a bit more!
