Dear all (with the usual apologies for cross-posting)
At the Science Festivals workshop held in Oxford in March, we decided that it would be a good idea to hold another informal gathering for people involved in Science Festivals, and that this should take place in September at the BA Festival...
It has now been decreed that this will happen on...
Tuesday 9 September,
at...
The Philharmonic Pub, 36 Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BX.
My rudimentary knowledge of Liverpool tells me that this is not far from the University. My suggestion is that we meet there from 6pm, which will give me a chance to get there after Laura Grant's "Science Communication Ideas Factory" session (I guess that's where some other Festival people may be too).
Currently, I don't have a plan for how things might run, other than it's a big pub that sells food... so we get a load of people linked to Festivals in various ways to go to the same pub at the same time, where we can sample the beer, and see where the evening takes us...(those of you who know me may recognise this model). However, if anyone would like to suggest ways that we could make things a bit more structured then by all means let me know and I'll see what I can do. As part of that it would be useful to know roughly how many people are coming: so if you are definitely planning to make it along then let me know (off list, of course). That can then inform whether the evening consists of a conversation of 6 people round a table, or 60 people in breakout groups with a plenary at the end.
Looking forward to it!
Love
Sweetness
& Light
Dom
