Good morning, I am after some advice from members.
I have an employeee who has been signed off by his GP with "lumbar
spondylosis" for 4 weeks. He has some general health issues, drinking and
is overweight. He was examined as a management referral with a view to
getting him back to work with a range of rehab measures including task
rotation, reduced hours etc. It would appear that on discussion with him,
he has worked days only for over 30 years and due to increased production
issues has been rostered onto a three shift pattern which will include
nights. He stated he would have difficulty getting to work on nights as he
is a non driver.
This chap has no documented history of back problems, basic assessment
showed he had a good range of movemnt and indeed he stated he had little
pain but mild discomfort only.
I will recomend to management that he could return earlier than the 4 weeks
with specific modified duties etc. I will also write to the GP advising him
what the company can offer. Where do we stand on this where the GP has
provided a cert for 4 weeks and I feel he could come back sooner.
Regards
