Dear colleagues
The NRICH Team (www.nrich.maths.org) at the University of Cambridge is
offering a free professional development programme for mathematics teachers
at maintained sector schools/colleges in the UK. The Teacher Inspiration
programme will be delivered as 3 one-day events over the course of the
2008/9 academic year.
The programme is aimed at teachers of mathematics at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
The aim of the professional development programme is to support mathematics
teachers who are committed to nurturing confident, resourceful and
enthusiastic learners.
Dates for the programme are
24th October 2008
19th March 2009
3rd July 2009.
Each Teacher Inspiration event will be a full day, held at the University of
Cambridge, starting at approximately 10am and ending at approximately 4pm,
with a mix of plenary speaker sessions and intensive hands-on workshops.
Lunch and refreshments will be included.
The days will link together with participants encouraged to try out and
share ideas between sessions. Preference will therefore be given to
teachers who can attend all three days of the programme. Schools are
encouraged to send up to two teachers to all three days. The Goldman Sachs
Foundation has generously provided support to enable us to offer free places
to mathematics teachers at maintained sector schools in the UK.
The last deadline for applications is 30th September 2008. Places
are limited so an early response is encouraged.
Full details are given in the attached flyer. To apply please complete
and return the attached registration form (this can also be downloaded
at http://mmp.maths.org/node/63). We will contact you to confirm your
place.
With best wishes

The NRICH website publishes a monthly issue of free mathematical enrichment
material - problems, articles, games and investigations - and offers an
archive of accessible and rich mathematical resources.
The NRICH material encourages creative approaches to mathematical thinking
and problem solving, and can be used by learners of all ages.
The sense of an online mathematical community is fostered by the publication
of solutions sent to the site and by the online discussion and mentoring
service offered by Ask NRICH.
