Hello.
This is a little bit outwith the remit of this list, but
I hope that the parallels will be enough for me to get
away with it and that someone can help!
We've received a query about the options available for the
creation of a Knowledge Transfer website and at this stage
we're pulling together a top-level breakdown of the
'typical' components.
There's not much of brief so far but
from what I could glean, the requirement is in part
the dissemination of research results - both headlines
and in detail - to stakeholders (primarily the Scottish
Government who fund the majority of their work) and
also to relevant professionals/industries. There is a
secondary aim, though, which is for a more general
educational, awareness and self-promotional presence.
The NSF 'birth of the internet':
http://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/nsf-net/index.jsp
was a key example of the kind of content they liked in
that context.
It struck me that this was quite a tricky brief, as it
needs to straddle publishing both detailed, technical
information as well as very much more generic content
for the general public. And ideally to do so in a seamless
and coherent fashion. No doubt a CMS will be required for
the whole lot.
I'm not having much luck at all in finding any good
examples of exactly this kind of thing. There's a lot out
there about knowledge transfer as a profession, and obviously
a lot about supporting the two audiences... but I'm struggling
to find good examples, best practice, etc about this curious
halfway house.
Does anyone have any hints? Or am I just guilty of thinking
more into it than there actually is?
many thanks
ed
