Subject: [CORECONTENT] MyiLibrary e-books
Dear all,
I have spoken to Scott Gibbens at Coutts and he has confirmed that the
MyiLibrary site was updated over the weekend to become Shibboleth compliant
for HE. This must have pushed the Athens login option further down the
screen on the MyiLIbrary landing page. NHS users should never reach this
screen if the ebook url contains '&Ref=Athens' at the end of the url string.
He has also confirmed that the .mrc records that were sent did not contain
this additional text [&Ref=Athens]and so did not recognise the user as
Athens authenticated so you will have been directed to this landing page.
He apologises and is organising for new .mrc files to be sent out. Zena,
this is for use with a Library Management System that has a MARC record
option in its cataloguing module. If your would prefer you can edit the
MARC records by adding &Ref=Athens to the end of each url in your catalogue.
The spreadsheets (.xls) I sent out last week (Zena you must have missed
these) did contain Athens urls so these should direct you to the correct
book details. I am attaching them again for Zena and others that missed
these.
If your users are finding the books via the NLH ebook hub they will also be
directed to the landing page. Scott is investigating whether MyiLibrary can
edit their API to provide direct Athens access to the ebooks avoiding our
NHS users ever getting to the landing page. We will update you on this when
we have further information.
