Recommended reading from the BMJ - two analysis articles from this weeks

"Beyond affirming a solid, long term philosophy, however, the final
report of the NHS next stage review does not reflect the 14 principles
of "the Toyota way" to manage an efficient and successful healthcare
system. Three of its principles, for example, involve thoroughly
discussing and considering all sides of a change before introducing it.
Careful testing and visible measures of performance must be combined
with a culture devoted to identifying problems, analysing their causes,
and tackling them before proceeding further, not unlike good clinical
medicine."
I know this government - and, to be fair, all governments since I can
remember - goes by "policy driven evidence" rather than evidence - or
even sound business principle - based - policy , but this article - and
the other one pointing out that the reason the USA is at the bottom of
the league in health care quality is their lack of good primary care -
are worth reading and bookmarking for future reference.
I'm sticking them - and my reflective learning - in my PDP for
discussion at my next appraisal.
