Well of course it should not be forgotten that the Rom culture and history has been academically and
literarily colonised even longer than our autistic culture, from George Borrow onwards. Indeed one
could say that they have been dealt similar cards in the construction of a romantic mysterious
outsider identity when it suits and fodder for extermination when it suits too.
Indeed there is no compensation for the holocaust survivors amongst the Rom, but neither is there
any for the Irish and Scottish diaspora either. History repeats over and over again, the process
continues.... We do not know why the Rom left India, indeed if that was even where started from but
we certainly know how todays wars make similar refugees and mass migrations.
