Department of Geography
The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore invites
applications for an Open Rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor,
tenure track) position in Social/Cultural Geography.
The candidate should have a PhD and preferably at least one yearıs teaching
experience at the undergraduate or graduate level. We seek a faculty member
who can contribute to cutting edge research and teaching in Social/Cultural
Geography. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience
and expertise on urban mobilities and cultural politics ideally with a focus
on Asia, but candidates with other areas of social and cultural geography
expertise are encouraged to apply. The candidateıs research and teaching
activities should complement the Departmentıs existing area of excellence in
the ³Critical Social/Cultural Geography in/of Asia" research group. More

In terms of teaching and academic responsibilities, the successful applicant
will be expected to:
a. Teach at least 2 modules a year at the undergraduate level in the
fields of Social/Cultural Geography and possible graduate modules in his/her
own areas of expertise; and
b. Contribute to the Departmentıs dynamic research activities

Application review will begin on 1 September 2008 and will continue until a
suitable candidate is recruited. Applicants must be available to commence
duties at the latest by 31 July 2009. Short-listed candidates will be
invited for a campus visit in October/November 2008. Salary will
commensurate with qualifications and experience. An appointee (varies
according to whether he/she is a Singaporean, permanent resident of
Singapore or other nationality) may also enjoy some or all of the following
