Low rise housing is defined within the NHBC Traffic light guidance as
'A low-rise residential development is considered to be a non-flat/apartment
development
consisting of one to three storeys in height'. The footnote associated with
this comment further states
'The Revised Wilson and Card Classification should be used for a residential
development comprising flats/apartments'
With respect to using the Gas Screening Values please be aware that they are
based upon a model house primarily that;
(1) has minimum recommended sub-floor void height of 0.15m and
(2) the ventilation rate within the sub-floor void was subject to a complete
volume change every 24 hours.
See appendix F of the actual Traffic Lights Document for further details.
Hope this helps
Karen Thornton

The low-rise 'model' is defined in C665 section A7.

Subject: Low rise housing
I've been asked what constitutes low-rise housing in regard to NHBC's soil
gas assessment methodology. I can't see anywhere in the document that
defines low-rise but intuitively a 2-storey house would qualify, but what
about 3 storey town houses or loft conversions.
