Professor with special duties in Health Informatics, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen
The Department seeks a professor with special duties in health informatics. Starting in 2008, the University of Copenhagen - with the Department of Computer Science as one of the partners - will offer an undergraduate programme in health informatics ("IT og Sundhed"). The professor is expected to play a central role in teaching and research activities related to this programme, as well as future development of programmes in health informatics at the university. Also, the professor is expected to build up a research group in health informatics at the Department by attracting external funding.
The applicant should have a strong publication record in computer science and in areas related directly to health informatics and organizational IT. Applicants who have conducted research in cooperation with the health care sector and IT vendors are preferred. Of particular interest are studies of experimental and innovative applications/systems within the health care sector (or of clear relevance to the health care sector). The applicant should have a documented ability to attract external research and industrial funding. The research areas Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work, and Participatory Design are of special interest. Research themes include:
- Theories and methods for IT design.
- IT project management in complex organizations.
- Empirical studies of IT and health care practices.
- Technical and clinical infrastructures (IT architecture, clinical guidelines, medical terminologies, and other standards).
- Innovative IT products, systems, and services.
The position is open from November 1, 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter. Duties may include the successful applicant's own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department. After five years, the special duties will cease, and the appointee will be given a regular post as Associate Professor.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State (www.perst.dk/db/filarkiv/12811/004-06.pdf). While negotiation for salary supplement is possible, the starting salary is currently up to DKK 551,942 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 94.382).
