RELIGIOUS ARCHIVES TRAINING COURSE AND EASTERN REGIONAL MEETING: 29 SEPTEMBER 2008.
Many archivists deal with the records of religious institutions but would like to know more about their historical background and how to interpret them. This day will be of interest to anyone who deals with religious archives such as dean and chapter, monastic and Nonconformists records and who would like to learn more about them.
Speakers:
Frank Meeres - Pre-Reformation and monastic archives
Edwin King - Post-Reformation cathedral records
Tom Townsend - Nonconformist records
Venue: Norwich Cathedral Library
Programme: Registration will commence at 10:00 am. The programme will begin at 10:30 am, break for lunch and finish at approximately 3.15 pm. There will be a tour of the Cathedral Library and the Cathedral's monastic site. Delegates will receive a copy of 'A Guide to the Records of Norwich Cathedral,' by Frank Meeres.
The Cathedral is based in central Norwich and participants can make their own arrangements for lunch. There is a Cathedral refectory where delegates can purchase their own lunch but it can get very busy at peak times. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Charge: £20.00 member, £25.00 non-member.
Maximum attendance: 25 delegates

A meeting of the Eastern Region will follow the training course at approximately 3.15 pm.
