Does anyone have any experience of using pen-type scanners to wand over printed text for OCR? Looking around, there seems to be considerable variation in cost. I'm particularly interested in one that doubles as a barcode reader, but the one I'm looking at at the moment has built-in speech synthesis so that it can read out the text as it scans, which strikes me as a bell/whistle too far.
Please reply off-list, and I'll summarize responses for the list.
Many thanks.
Ian
