Yes Brian you are entirely right: that is a very interesting line in Reinhard's interview.
I think I did hear Reinhard talk about this at WAC too but nothing much was made of it. However, potentially this could be the kind of proposal that might win support from all sides in the debate, would offer WAC and indeed archaeology a pragmatic and ethically acceptable way forward, and - dare I say it - might even be funded from bodies like UNESCO...?
(I am copying this to Peter Stone, just in case he knows of some similar initiatives that already exist or a good reason why it will not fly.)
