LANCASTER POSTGRADUATE STATISTICS CENTRE - MASTER CLASSES
Analysis of Ordinal Categorical Data
Date: 10th September 2008
Duration: 1 Day
Course Leader: Alan Agresti (University of Florida)
This one day event overviews methods for analyzing ordinal categorical
data.
Topics to be covered include ordinal association structure in
contingency tables, logistic regression models using cumulative logits,
other ordinal logistic regression models (adjacent-categories logits,
continuation-ratio logits, partial proportional odds, stereotype model),
other multinomial response models (cumulative probit, log-log), and
marginal models and random effects models for clustered ordinal
responses.
Participants should have a familiarity with logistic regression.
Latent Class and Latent Transition Analysis
Date: 29th September - 1st October 2008
Duration: 3 Days
Course Leaders: Linda Collins, Stephanie Lanza, Bethany Cara Bray
(Pennsylvannia State University)
This three day event will enable participants to gain the background and
skills to address research questions using latent class and latent
transition analysis. Emphasis is placed on the correspondence between
research questions and appropriate models and on practical aspects of
data analysis. Data sets will be provided although participants are
encouraged to bring their own data for use in the lab sessions formatted
for SAS or SPSS
Participants should have a familiarity with contingency tables, logistic
regression, and factor analysis.
No prior background in latent class analysis is required.
