Research Assistant
We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient Research Assistant to join
our team at the Centre for
Paediatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics, working on the National Study of
HIV in Pregnancy and Childhood,
the national surveillance system for HIV in pregnant women and children.

The post holder will be required to carry out a range of research, IT and
administrative support tasks
relevant to the effective running of the study, including processing
incoming reports, dealing with
correspondence, communicating with health professionals and entering data
into an Access database.
The successful applicant will also help to prepare reports and presentations
relating to the study,
and will carry out some data analysis, using statistical software (STATA).
The post holder will need to be
confident on the telephone, able to write clearly, be numerate and have good
attention to detail.
The post will provide experience of data collection, data management, and
statistical analysis,
in the context of a national surveillance study, and would suit someone at
the start of a research career.
The post holder will have the opportunity to attend courses offered through
the Staff Development
and Training Unit at ICH/UCL. The post holder will report to the principal
investigator of the study
(Dr Pat Tookey), and will work closely with the other members of the team.
The post is currently funded until 31 March 2011. Salary will be £23,692 -
£25,135 per annum on Grade 6
of the UCL salary scales, depending on skills and experience, plus London
Weighting of £2,649 per annum.
