Senior Medical Statistician (Principal Research Associate)
The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the
Cancer Institute at University College London. The CTC conducts multi-
centre national and international clinical phase II and III trials in a
variety of cancers.
We have a vacancy for an experienced medical statistician, preferably with
a background in clinical trials. This vacancy provides an exciting
opportunity to make important contributions to cancer clinical research.
The purpose of the post is to take the statistical lead on several trials.
The postholder will also manage the lung cancer trials portfolio, playing
a key role in the development of the national programme of clinical lung
cancer research. You will contribute to the design of new trials, work
closely with clinical investigators and CTC staff when applying for grant
funding, have responsibility for the statistical analyses plan, interim
reports and final analyses, and write papers for publication with
investigators. You will be encouraged to develop your own research
interests and contribute to postgraduate teaching.
The successful applicant will be a member of the trial centre management
team, which determines the overall strategy for the centre, and help line-
manage a group of trial co-ordinators and data managers. Applicants should
have considerable experience in medical statistics and are expected to
have a track record in applying for grant funding and/or publishing
articles in medical journals.
We are looking for post-graduates (M.Sc. or above) in Medical Statistics
or a related subject with several years experience in clinical trials
and/or epidemiological studies. Knowledge of statistical methods of design
and analysis are essential.
