A Postdoctoral Research Associate is required to work jointly with
Professors Mike Campbell and Richard Eastell, on the analysis of data on
bone turnover markers. Professor Campbell is a Medical Statistician in the
School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) and Professor Eastell is an
expert in Bone Metabolism in the Medical School. The post will be based in
the Medical Statistics Group in ScHARR.
Candidates should have experience in the application of statistics to
medical problems, in particular survival analysis. Experience in the use
of interim endpoints in clinical trials would also be useful. A PhD or
equivalent experience is necessary. This post is available immediately
and is funded by a grant from Unipath for two years.
The work is on data sets looking at bone turnover markers in osteoporosis.
These are biochemical measures that measure the rate at which calcium
enters and leaves the bones. It has been shown that they can be used to
predict subsequent bone fractures. As such they may be useful interim
endpoints in trials of drugs to treat osteoporosis. The data are
longitudinal in nature with the time to vertebral and non-vertebral
fractures as the main outcome.
Enquiries to Mike Campbell ([log in to unmask]) (until 8th
July) and then Stephen Walters ([log in to unmask])
