Job Description
Title: Oxfordshire Science Week (OSW) Co-ordinator
Reporting to: OSW Steering Group
Purpose: To co-ordinate the activities included in OSW2009 (6-15 March 2009).
Timescale: Work to start in September 2008, with final report due at the end of April 2009. During that period it is expected that the role will take approximately 40 days work, with significant proportion of that occuring during February and March 2009.

Deliverables
1. Co-ordination of Festival partners' activities which will take place during OSW2009, including monthly e-mail contact to update partners of developments
2. Development and delivery of the OSW Marketing and Publicity strategy, including:
co-ordination of the design, production and distribution of the OSW brochure
maintenance of the OSW website
generation of media interest in OSW
maintenance of a media coverage and clippings file
3. Delivery of a launch event for OSW partners and stakeholders
4. Recruitment and management of an independent external evaluator.
5. Delivery of a final report by 30 April 2009

Person specification
Essential:
· Excellent project management skills
· Experience of developing and delivering complex large scale events
· Experience of developing and delivering projects involving a number of stakeholders
· Experience of developing and delivering Marketing and Publicity strategies
Desirable:
· Knowledge and understanding of the cultural map of Oxfordshire
· Knowledge and understanding of the scientific map of Oxfordshire
· Knowledge and understanding of UK science communication
· Experience of evaluating science communication activities

Pay and conditions:
The successful applicant will be self employed. They will be provided with a work space in The Oxford Trust's offices at Science Oxford, St Clement's, Oxford. They will be supported on a day to day basis by Science Oxford's Public Programmes team.
The successful applicant will be paid a maximum of £10,000. Expenses will be paid up to a maximum to be agreed with the successful applicant.
