Hi
That is a fantastic tool.
Long story short - somehow I had the wrong chaining certificate - I
blame too much information on the email sent out with my certificate
confusing me.
I think my site is now sorted. I hope....
The site I was trying to access still won't let me in, but now the
certificate issue appears to be somebody else's not mine. FireFox says
shib.ingramdigital.com uses an invalid security certificate.
So I think I'm sorted now.
Many thanks.

See
http://www.switch.ch/pki/scs/howto-request.html
(near the bottom, the section "Verifying the correct installation of the
server's certificate") for one way to check if your server is actually
providing the intermediate certificate. You need access to the OpenSSL
command line tools to do this - they are common on unix/linux boxes, and
available for Windows.
