Hi, David,
Apart from the very serious issue of the costs to a school - which is why
most schools I know do not provide Inspiration for their students - the main
reason that I prefer CMAP is twofold:
1) the built-in requirement to enter a relationship or concept between each
item, (which encourages the student to identify the relationship) and
2) the fact that there are NOT fancy graphics for students to waste time
choosing. (And anyway the graphics can rarely be an exact match to a
specific concept and can therefore prejudice thinking.)

Subject: Re: [VLES] Integrating an Inspirations output into a VLE
I saw OpenMind very briefly a couple of weeks ago, and I was very impressed,
it is a similar price to Mind Genius (my preferred tool) and Inspirations,
and seems to be a very good compromise between the 2 (Mind Genius is very
powerful and can be used as a business tool, but doesn't have many images
and its HTML export isn't as good, Inspirations is very good for learners
due to its extensive image gallery, but it cannot be used as a serious
business tool)
OpenMind did do the html export which should work in a VLE, although is many
years since I used Learnwise, so don't know about whether it specifically
works with this VLE system.

Hi There,
Does anyone have any experience using 'Openmind' mind mapping software to do
a similar process? It also exports as HTML, and I am hoping to use it to
create courses to integrate into our 'learnwise' based VLE, launching
(hopefully!!) September 2008.
