Co-Sponsoring Committee(s):
ADC70 - Transportation Energy
ADC70(2) - Climate Change
ADC80 - Alternative Fuels and Technology
ADD40 - Transportation and Sustainability
Call Description:
The TRB Special Task Force on Climate Change and Energy (A0020T) in
conjunction with the TRB Joint Subcommittee on Climate Change and the
TRB Standing Committees on Energy, Alternative Fuels and Sustainability
invite you to submit papers for the upcoming TRB Annual Meeting in 2009.
The TRB Special Task Force on Climate Change and Energy was established
to develop a strategic plan and roadmap for TRB's energy and climate
change programs and activities, and to coordinate transportation and
climate change-related activities across TRB Groups and standing
Committees. The task force's charge is to develop the plan and roadmap
within a context that addresses critical climate change and energy
issues that affect all modes of transportation, and can be addressed
through means of policy, technology and rethinking of our current
transportation infrastructure.
Our transportation system, economy and lifestyles rely heavily upon
petroleum-derived fuel. Rising fuel prices, along with concerns for
providing for future energy needs and reducing the adverse affects of
climate change have renewed a national interest in the production and
consumption of alternative fuels and energy sources. The TRB Technical
Activities Council has designated "Transportation, Energy and Climate
Change," as the spotlight theme for the 2009 TRB Annual Meeting, to
raise awareness of the timely implications of both the transportation
sector's adverse affects on climate change, as well as the effect that
climate change has had and will continue to have on the transportation
systems of tomorrow.
Please select Committee A0020T on the Submission Review form to indicate
