The Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in
Göttingen is seeking as soon as possible a Quantitative Social Scientist to work on
projects concerning the development of attitudes and practices among a variety of
ethnic, religious and classbased groups in highly diverse settings (such as
markets, schools and organizations).
Duration of position: 3 to 5years
Qualification:
MPI-MMG is seeking a social scientist with skills and experience surrounding
quantitative research design and analysis. The successful applicant will be at the
centre of a multi-disciplinary project entailing European comparative surveys on
questions concerning socio-cultural diversity and social capital.
Applicants must have;
litical Science; * strong quantitative research skills, including experience in
research and analysis using advanced statistical methods (especially multi-level
modeling) and relevant software packages (such as STATA, Mplus, HLM, etc.); *
familiarity with sampling methods and questionnaire design; * familiarity with
secondary data analysis; * ability to implement and oversee large scale surveys; *
ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams with senior and
junior colleagues; * ability to write and convey social scientific findings in a
clear and cogent way, and a good record of publication.
Also highly desirable would be any of the following:
terature and techniques surrounding the measurement of social capital and social
networks; * skills in innovative data visualization; * skills in agent-based
modeling.
Salary and benefits are according to the German public service pay scale (TVÖD
Bund).
