Evaluation of a new vision rehabilitation service, Thomas Pocklington
Trust
Thomas Pocklington Trust is a leading UK provider of housing and support
services for people with sight loss, and commissioner of social and public
health research on visual impairment. Pocklington now invites proposals to
conduct an evaluation and review of a major programme of work to improve
Pocklington services.
Through a two year programme Pocklington aims to introduce and integrate
vision rehabilitation across all services. A new staff team will lead that
development, which will include structured support and training for staff
in our Centres, provision of specialised rehabilitation support in complex
circumstances and the development of in-house rehabilitation expertise in
areas of particular interest to Pocklington's service users.
Pocklington wishes to commission a research organisation to provide an
integrated evaluation and support staff to develop effective monitoring.
The evaluation will include
- informing and overseeing data collection and capture, with monitoring
and management reviews by our staff
- analysis of data
- qualitative research into staff and service users’ and other
stakeholders’ views, experiences, outputs and outcomes.
- interpretation and implications of findings.
We expect that the research methods will enable clear and structured
exploration of the style of service improvement as well as evaluation of
impact and outcomes. The evaluation approach would resemble action
oriented research, inform the service strategy and detail, and identify
lessons for work to improve and develop a rehabilitative approach in other
services and settings and support for re-ablement and independence.
Up to £60,000 is available, including all costs and VAT where charged. The
work is expected to begin in circa August 2008 and end up to three years
later.
Proposals should be received by Katrina Harrington, Thomas Pocklington
Trust, by 5pm on 30th June 2008.
