Message from the MIST mailing list.
Dear colleagues,
As previously notified the reports on the programmatic review (both from the ad-hoc panels and from PPAN) are now publicly available. It would now be valuable to discuss them to identify what follow-up actions are needed from our MIST community. To do this please could I invite/encourage/cajole you to register on, and use, the web forum http://ukmist.activeboard.com/ that Jim Wild has kindly set up for MIST community discussion? I have started a thread under:
MIST Discussion Forum -> General MIST discussion -> Programmatic Review reports
The use of this web forum will give us a private space for community discussion - whilst having a well-defined membership and keep tracking of all comments. The forum is open to anyone who wishes to contribute positively to discussions and actions that support the study of solar-terrestrial physics, especially in the UK. This may include development of programmatic concepts, lobbying for support of STP programmes, preparation of position papers, etc. To use the forum you will have to register and wait for manual approval; the latter may take a few hours depending on the availability of the forum administrator (Jim). Registration is a small one-off overhead for each user, but if enough of us join it will give the MIST group a valuable tool. I hope you will try to join in.
The events of recent months have shown that our community needs this private forum. I'm sure that need won't go away, e.g. it may not be long before we need to discuss and respond to a draft STFC strategy document.
Best wishes,
Mike
