Dear Jisc-mailers,
Here is the latest news from the Mass Observation Archive:
SPRING 2008 DIRECTIVE NOW READY FOR RESEARCH
"You and the NHS in 2008" & "Your Life Line"
Ten years ago, the Mass Observers were sent a Directive on the National
Health Service. To complement the material collected, and to reflect on the
60th anniversary of the NHS, Part 1 of the spring 2008 Directive asked the
Mass Observers to write about their experiences of health and social care
over the past decade.
Part 2 of the Directive asked the MO correspondents to look back on their
own lives by drawing their "life line" marked up with key events. The
Observers were told to be as detailed as they wished and were left to
decide how to format their response.
The responses to the spring 2008 Directive can be consulted by making an
appointment to visit us in the Special Collections department of the
Library at the University of Sussex

CELEBRATING SANDRA
Last year, the MOA's Trustees opened a fund to celebrate the life of Sandra
Koa Wing (The Mass Observation Archive's first Development Officer) and her
contribution to the work of Mass Observation. Many of you kindly donated to
the fund. Nearly £4000 was raised and the money was used to commission two
local artists to design a pair of seats which are now located in the
reception area of Special Collections. Photographs of the seats can be
found on the Mass Observation website:

ANGUS CALDER
As many of you know, Angus Calder, author of The People's War, died at the
beginning of this month. Dorothy has written her memories of Angus on the
MO website:
