Human Genomics and Proteomics: First SAGE-Hindawi open access title now live
June 2, 2008 - SAGE and Hindawi are pleased to announce the launch of Human Genomics and Proteomics, the first title from the two companies' joint venture: SAGE-Hindawi Access to Research.
Human Genomics and Proteomics (HGP) is a peer-reviewed international open access journal, affiliated with FINDbase: the National/Ethnic Mutation Database, documenting frequencies of causative mutations leading to inherited disorders in various populations worldwide. The journal will provide a unique forum for the discussion of research on human genomics and proteomics, systems biology and various aspects of personalized medicine.
"As the first journal with an affiliated database in this discipline, HGP offers a unique opportunity to authors to open up access to their research to the widest possible community," commented Dr George Patrinos, newly appointed joint Editor in Chief along with Dr Emanuel Petricoin. "We're delighted to be working with SAGE and Hindawi on this new title".
The journal will publish high quality original and review articles comprising research on human genomics and proteomics. Additionally, datasets submitted for inclusion in FINDbase will also be peer-reviewed and, if accepted, authors will be asked to write a short abstract for inclusion in the journal in a dedicated section: FINDbase datasets. This data will be published against a PubMed ID upon acceptance of the journal by PubMed/Medline.
SAGE and Hindawi announced their intention to publish a series of Open Access journals last December. "SAGE aims to be the natural home for authors, editors and societies, and as such we see the SAGE-Hindawi partnership as a key part of our ongoing strategy to support widespread dissemination of scholarly content," commented David Ross, Business Development Manager, SAGE. He continued,
"There is a growing body of research in this discipline, and we believe HGP can occupy a unique position in the market. The combination of SAGE's editorial expertise and Hindawi's experience of the Open Access model will provide a unique service to the academic community in this field."
Human Genomics and Proteomics (e-ISSN: 1757-4242) will be launched on Saturday 31st May 2008 at the Human Genome Variation Society symposium "How to Explore Human Genotype to Phenotype Relationships", a satellite event of the European Society of Human Genetics 2008 meeting, Barcelona, Spain http://www.hgvs.org/Barcelona08/. A copy of Dr Patrinos' presentation from the launch is available online at www.sagepub.co.uk/hgp.
The journal will be available online only, from the SAGE-Hindawi platform. Human Genomics and Proteomics is an Open Access journal. Publishing an article in Human Genomics and Proteomics requires an Article Processing Charge of £700.
