Hi Maureen,
Your email prompted me to look at the institutional subscribed holdings file I downloaded yesterday (which I thought would provide proof of our historical and current rights to content on Synergy if there were any problems with the merger of Blackwell Publishing titles onto Wiley InterScience - even the "best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry").
As we've been in a NESLi2 deal with Blackwell Science from 1999-2001 and one with Blackwell Publishers from 2000-2001 when they both became Blackwell Publishing and have had a NESLi2 agreement with that publisher ever since, plus we also have inherited rights from the original HEFCE SLI from 1996-1998 as well as our "core" subscriptions some of which fall outside the NESLi2 agreements, it's very important that we have some documentation spelling out the totality of these rights. I am sure I'm not alone in this desire. Naively I thought that the institutional subscribed holdings file would be the evidence that I needed.
However, like you've already described the information is very confusing to say the least! Our list only has 980 titles but as you say several titles are listed more than once with different coverage periods and in some cases there are gaps in the coverage although we do have access from 1997 without any gaps . In some cases we've suddenly got a year of access missing in the middle of the online content. In some cases this content is not on Synergy any more and we haven't necessarily retained the rights according to the holdings file. There are also lots of titles - 424 - without any coverage at all.
All I want to know is what is the totality of the rights we've inherited over many years? Can Wiley-Blackwell provide us with this information in a format that makes sense?
Are others out their struggling to make sense of exactly what rights they have to Blackwell Publishing content?
I hope this made some sense!
Cheers
Lesley

I do not know about other people but the information I have got from
Blackwell admin is hopeless! They list over 1000 titles as subs for Edge
Hill (which is way too many) but when I looked at them closely many
titles are listed twice with 2 coverage periods – usually with a gap
i.e. 2000-2006 and 2008 onwards . However when I checked we actually did
have access from 1997 without gaps. But there are many titles in this
holdings file without any coverage dates at all. We do only have one
sub/title which is not covered by Nesli full deal (which they say we do
not have access to but that is another story!) so if any one has an
up-to-date list of the Nesli full deal with dates and urls … I know not
got good practice to email attachments to the Jiscmail but if
someone/anyone could email this to me personally I would be very
grateful

Hello there,
Thanks very much for your help. I realised that I was expecting to
find
the information in the 'Subscription Information' report but it
outputs
it much better in the 'Holding File' report. That's one less job to do
now. We just need to do the cross checking on Wiley Interscience after
the migration now!
Best Wishes
Sarah

Hi Sarah
You'll need to go directly to the Synergy Admin page at
http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/action/institutionAdmin. I don't
think
you can get it via the Synergy homepage. I couldn't see a route via
there anyway.
Regards
Eileen

Subject: [LIS-E-JOURNALS] Wiley - Blackwell Subscribed Title Lists
Hello there,
Apologies if this has come up in the last few days already but I am
losing track slightly of the various issues that we have with this
platform migration....
We are trying to download a list of our subscribed titles with
coverage
entitlements from the Synergy website. The aim of this is to compare
the
list on Synergy with the actual access we have on Wiley Interscience
after migration to ensure we have not lost access to any volumes.
When we select our list of subscribed journals, it is displayed
unhelpfully in html format and we can't export it to a spreadsheet.
Also, it doesn't contain any coverage entitlements.
Has anyone else attempted to download this kind of information from
Synergy? Is it possible at all? If not, is it possible for
Wiley-Blackwell to provide a separate list of titles with coverage for
institutions that would like it?
Many thanks in advance.
Best Wishes
Sarah
