Dear List Members,
For some time, the charging of VAT on the electronic component of
combined subscriptions has been an area under discussion between
publishers and tax authorities. The advice given has often been
different depending on the tax authority and for this reason some
publishers do make a charge whilst others do not.
At Swets, we have been developing our systems to enable us to replicate
the decision of the publisher and to follow the rules which they apply.
We have been testing this functionality with customers during 2008 and
it will go live with all customers for 2009 subscriptions. Our
experience to date shows the impact of the change on customers' budgets
is very small but all Swets customers will have the comfort of knowing
they are fully compliant with VAT requirements.
Further communication will be sent to Swets customers in the coming
weeks.
Best wishes,
Tamsyn

Dear Helen,
Thanks for this information. This warning from T & F is the first we
have had. Does your agent indicate this will apply to UK subs too?
Best wishes
Sue
