italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear all,
Just a note about new online material at the Department of Italian at the University of Leeds, which we hope colleagues will find useful as teaching resources.

Analysing Paintings: An Online Introduction to Formal Analysis
This online course was designed in order to introduce modern languages students to some of the basic techniques of formal analysis. It is freely available for anyone to use, and assumes no particular prior knowledge of the visual arts. The course guides students through some of the key formal aspects of painting - from the colours in a painting to the materials used to paint it - and explores over thirty examples through guided activities. The course is at http://www.leeds.ac.uk/italian/analysingpaintings.htm <http://www.leeds.ac.uk/italian/analysingpaintings.htm> .
I'd be very glad to hear from any colleagues who might use this course in their teaching, especially if they have suggestions for improvement ([log in to unmask]).
