The Hydrogeology Group of the Geological Society of London is organising a one day meeting on Tuesday 2nd December 2008 at Burlington House with the theme "Groundwater and Extreme Events".
The meeting will consider the impacts of climatic extremes on groundwater resources and groundwater quality with particular reference to European aquifers. The meeting will include presentations on water scarcity and drought as well as groundwater flooding.
Submission of abstracts from across the disciplines of hydrogeology, hydrology, groundwater modelling and catchment management are all encouraged. Papers highlighting recent scientific research, conceptual developments, and implications for long term monitoring and management are particularly welcome.
Abstracts (<300 words) should be emailed to the convenors Sarah Beeson (Anglian Water Services) and Daren Gooddy (British Geological Survey) by 12th September 2008.
